Currently, Chile exports frozen and fresh salmon to about 76 countries. Major markets include the United States, Brazil, Russia, China and the European Union.

The southern coastline of Chile is long and winding, with small islands and bays densely covered. There are large areas of pure, zero pollution cold water, which is very suitable for the growth of king crabs.

China's salmon imports reached a historic high of 22,534 tons in the first quarter of 2024. By comparison, the highest record for the third quarter of 2023 was 21,903 tons.  Although the total import value in the first quarter slightly decreased to $296.22 million, an increase of 16% year-on-year, reaching 22,534 tons. Norway remains the main supplier, followed by Australia and Chile.

In 2023, China was the fastest-growing market for Atlantic salmon consumption in the world, consuming a total of 108,128 tons of Atlantic salmon, a year-on-year increase of 32,597 tons or 43%, making the Chinese Atlantic salmon market the eighth largest market in the world
