Fish Year: Chilean salmon allowed to enter the Australian market

Following the United States, Brazil and Russia, Australia has become another salmon market open to Chile.
Chilean salmon exports are vital to the national economy and regions with strong aquaculture industries. In 2023 alone, Chilean salmon exports exceeded US$6 billion. Ignacio Fernández, director general of the Chilean Trade Promotion Agency, said this is undoubtedly good news for Chile, and the salmon industry is one of the main export industries in Chile's food industry.

Currently, Chile exports frozen and fresh salmon to about 76 countries. Major markets include the United States, Brazil, Russia, China and the European Union.
