Overall situation of trade

In August 2024, China's imports and exports of aquatic products reached $3,117.2 million, a year-on-year increase of 2.3%. Among them, exports amounted to 1627.1 million US dollars, up 3.5% year-on-year; Imports amounted to 1490.1 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 0.9%: net exports for the month were 13.70 million US dollars.


From January to August 2024, the cumulative import and export of aquatic products in China reached 24,272.4 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 7.5%. Among them, accumulated $12,622.4 million, a year-on-year decrease of 3.0%; Accumulated imports of 11,650.1 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 12.0%; Accumulated static exports amounted to 97.23 million US dollars.

In August 2024, the total import and export volume of aquatic products in China was 730,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 11.3%, of which 342,000 tons were exported, a year-on-year increase of 18.0%; Imported 389,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.9%.

From January to August 2024, the cumulative import and export volume of aquatic products in China was 5.642 million tons, an increase of 1.1% year-on-year. Among them, the cumulative exports were 2.579 million tons, up 10.4% year-on-year; the cumulative imports were 3.063 million tons, down 5.6% year-on-year

 

Import structure of aquatic products
 
In August 2024, the top three imported aquatic products in China were crustaceans, frozen fish, and mollusks, with imports of 718.5 million US dollars, 358.8 million US dollars, and 177.0 million US dollars, accounting for 48.2%, 24.1%, and 11.9% of the total aquatic product trade imports, with year-on-year growth rates of -2.3%, 11.2%, and 14.0%, respectively.
