China's leisure fishery development monitoring report (2024) released!

In 2023, the output value of leisure fisheries in China reached 93.147 billion yuan (the monitoring data does not include Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Tibet), a year-on-year increase of 10.99%, which is close to the level of 2019. 

In 2023, the number of leisure fishery operators in China will be 140,400, a year-on-year increase of 1.51%. Among them, the number of operators above designated size (referring to operators with an annual output value of more than 2 million yuan in leisure fishery) will be 14,900, accounting for 10.64% of the total number of operators; the number of employees was 823,800, a year-on-year increase of 7.95%; the number of visitors was 272 million, a year-on-year increase of 15.00%, and the per capita consumption expenditure was 342.89 yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 3.49%; the number of leisure fishing vessels in China was 7,584, a year-on-year decrease of 2.69%, of which the number of marine leisure fishing vessels increased by 1.38% year-on-year, and the number of inland leisure fishing vessels decreased by 5.12% year-on-year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' leisure fishery monitoring classification, China's leisure fishery is divided into five types, namely: tourism-oriented leisure fishery, leisure fishing and gathering industry, fishing tackle, bait, ornamental fish, fishery medicine and aquarium equipment, ornamental fish industry and others. In terms of proportion, tourism-oriented leisure fishery and leisure fishing and gathering industry are the leading industries, with output values ​​of 38.878 billion yuan and 27.485 billion yuan in 2023, respectively, accounting for a total of 71.25% of the national output value; the output values ​​of fishing tackle, bait, ornamental fish, fishery medicine and aquarium equipment, and ornamental fish industry are 14.583 billion yuan and 11.899 billion yuan, respectively, accounting for 15.66% and 12.77%. The output values ​​of the four main types of industries have all increased, with the fastest year-on-year growth rates in tourism-oriented leisure fishery and ornamental fish industry.
