Industry rumors: Haida and Tongwei intend to acquire Grobest

The global shrimp feed market may undergo a major change

Recently, according to the Southern Rural Daily (农财宝典 大国渔业 ), there have been rumors in the industry that Haida and Tongwei are interested in acquiring  Grobest.

Founded in 1974, Grobest has maintained a leading position in the research and development of natural, antibiotic-free feed products for environmentally friendly and sustainable aquaculture.  

At present, it is distributed in 8 regions of the Asia Pacific region, with 8 subsidiaries, 14 feed factories, and 3 additive factories. The annual sales of aquatic feed are about 600,000 to 700,000 tons, of which the annual sales of shrimp feed are 400,000 to 500,000 tons, making it one of the top three companies in global shrimp feed sales. It controls three feed plants in Chinese Mainland, namely, Haima in Fuzhou, Quanxing in Shunde and Quanxing in Changshu, and has long been among the best in shrimp feed market share in Southeast Asia.

In 2023, Grobest is expected to sell 300,000 tons of seafood in Southeast Asia, mainly distributed in Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and other places.

Tongwei Group focuses on feed production and aquaculture as its core businesses, and also involves various fields such as aquatic seedling breeding, aquaculture services, animal health, agricultural testing, fishery facilities and equipment, financing guarantees, etc. As of now, Tongwei  has an annual feed production capacity of over 10 million tons, making it a leading global aquatic feed production enterprise and an important livestock and poultry feed production enterprise. It has more than 80 subsidiaries and branches involved in feed business, and its production and sales network has been deployed in most parts of the country and Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Indonesia.

The sales volume of Tongwei Group's feed in 2023 is 7.4134 million tons.  According to incomplete statistics, the annual sales volume of Tongwei shrimp feed is currently over 200,000 tons. In 2023, Tongwei is estimated to sell 350,000 tons of seafood overseas, distributed in Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh and other places.
