Although China's fishery output has been steadily increasing over the years, and even foreign manufacturers are increasing their infrastructure investment in order to export to China, Chinese manufacturers are lacking in investment in breeding, processing, and transportation equipment.

According to a survey by QYResearch's Head Enterprise Research Center, the main manufacturers of processed seafood and seafood processing equipment in the world include Thai Union Frozen Products, Maruha Nichiro Corporation, Mowi, Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Trident Seafood,Kyokuyo Co. Ltd, Nomad Foods, Nueva Pescanova,Cermaq, Austevoll Seafood ASA, etc. In 2023, the top ten manufacturers in the world will account for about 47% of the seafood processing and equipment market share.

Although Chinese companies such as Joyvio Food, Guolian Aquatic Products, Ocean Family, Zhejiang Xingye Group, and Zhangzidao Group are also on the list, their market share is not at the same level as the real world-class industry leaders.

This may be related to the fact that some Chinese manufacturers pay more attention to end products and insufficient investment in processing equipment. International food processing machinery companies such as Marel and GEA Group are also very happy to provide equipment for the Chinese seafood processing market. For example, Marel plans to increase its sales to China 10 times in the next decade.

It can be foreseen that the growing seafood consumption market will inevitably bring about the growth of the processing, transportation and other equipment markets. Moreover, for seafood products that are particularly concerned about shelf life and freshness, processing technology and packaging solutions must be rapidly improved.
