On September 2nd, Mr. Bancha, the Director General of the Fisheries Department of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, revealed that due to the increasing popularity of Thai Macrobrachium rosenbergii (also known as freshwater long arm prawns) among domestic and foreign consumers, the Fisheries Department has been committed to improving the breeding efficiency of this type of prawns.

He stated that on August 23rd, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) approved the inclusion of live Macrobrachium rosenbergii in the list of allowed imported products, and approved the export of Macrobrachium rosenbergii from 28 farms and 7 aquatic animal packaging institutions to China. The export of Macrobrachium rosenbergii to China this time is a good starting point for expanding the Chinese market for Thai aquatic products, which will help increase export value and create income for the country.
