How to compete in the 150 billion yuan pre-made seafood market?

Do you know about aquatic pre-made dishes? What are the logics for creating hot products? ...... The "2024 China Pre-made Meals Industry Development Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") was recently released. The report mentioned that the big single product strategy is a powerful breakthrough for pre-made meal companies to build a moat. A number of aquatic "hot products" such as Guolian Xiaobalong Grilled Fish, Hengxing Golden Pomfret, and Pinzhen Crayfish are widely known to consumers.

At the 2023 performance briefing, Li Zhong, chairman and general manager of Guolian Aquatic, said that according to disclosures, Guolian Aquatic currently has large single products with sales of 100 million yuan, such as breaded shrimp, seasoned crayfish, grilled fish, pickled fish, bullfrog, etc., and some single products even exceed 200 million yuan.

In terms of product types, in 2023, 10 types of pre-made seafood, including sauerkraut fish, shrimp cakes, Futiaoqiang, spicy seafood, grilled eel, and grilled fish, performed well in sales on the four platforms of Douyin (Chinese TikTok), Tmall, Taobao, and JD.

In 2023, the scale of China's pre-made seafood market reached 126 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.3%. With the support of both supply and demand, the scale of China's pre-made seafood market is expected to exceed 150 billion yuan in 2024.
