Fuzhou plans to build a land-based salmon farming factory

Wang Yumei, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, stated at the 2024 Salmon Production and Marketing Conference held in June this year that the global production of salmon is over 4 million tons, while China only has over 40,000 tons. The domestic consumption scale is about 120,000 tons, and domestic aquaculture is far from enough to meet consumer demand, relying heavily on imports. Therefore, as an important pillar of the domestic salmon consumption market, farmed salmon has shown a booming trend in recent years.

On August 23rd, the Norwegian land-based salmon farming technology team, the Provincial Aquaculture Technology Promotion Station, Honghua Company, and Xinjiangyang Company jointly discussed the investment project of salmon farming base in Fuzhou, and conducted site visits to Lianjiang, Luoyuan and other places. Feasibility study reports will be prepared in the future.
