The annual China International Fisheries Expo will be held in Qingdao from October 30 to November 1. The 2024 Canadian Seafood Summit will also be held as scheduled on October 30 at the Qingdao Hongdao International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The 2024 Canadian Seafood Summit is jointly organized by the Embassy of Canada to China (Booth B8-0213), the Atlantic Canadian Chamber of Commerce (ACBN), the Government of British Columbia (Booth B8-0115), the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong & Macao and the China International Fisheries Expo (CFSE). With the support of Atlantic Seafood Canada (SFC, Booth B8-1030), New Brunswick (NB, Booth B8-0110), Nova Scotia (NS, Booth B8-0101), Prince Edward Island (PEI, Booth B8-0131) and Newfoundland and Labrador (NFL, Booth B8-0107), the Chinese importer representative Shanghai Hecheng Food Co., Ltd., industry associations, institutions and Canada's east coast export transportation hubs will attend. Through procurement and marketing linkage and market promotion, we are committed to developing the consumption of Canadian seafood in the Chinese market.

The forum will focus on Canada's key seafood categories, industry associations will share the international trends of Canadian seafood, and key companies will look forward to the development prospects of Canadian seafood in the Chinese market. Content includes:

According to Statistics Canada, in 2023, Canada exported 126,000 tons of lobster products to the world, of which 43% were live lobsters. For the first time, China surpassed the United States to become Canada's largest importer of live lobsters. In 2024, Canadian snow crab performed well in the market, and Asia was the second largest import market for Canadian snow crab. In the first half of 2024, Atlantic salmon performed outstandingly, especially in exports to the Chinese market. From January to June, Canada exported 2,171 tons of Atlantic salmon to China, a year-on-year increase of 1,162%. In addition to lobster, snow crab, Atlantic salmon, geoduck, and Dungeness crab, Chinese customers also paid attention to categories such as sea cucumbers, red fish, capelin, albacore tuna, sea urchins, oysters, black cod, and bottom-dwelling fish.
